Luke 5 days new!

Newborns...here is Luke 5 days new!  Isn't he a doll?!  But don't let these sleepy photos fool you, newborn photography is an art!  It is tough and I am always learning new way to make beautiful newborn portraits.  One of my new lessons for today was to do the wrap shot first which I didn't post here but that always puts the baby to sleep fast and then the other poses are easier to do. Also heat up the room!  You must be sweating for it to be warm enough for a naked baby to sleep.

Avelina - 17 days old!

Beautiful Avelina is 17 days old! I had the priviledge of photographing my best friend's little girl yesterday.  I myself am 37 weeks pregnant with my second so it was fun to see what my future with a newborn will be likel  I love newborns in b&w, it brings a softness to them and helps with any redness or marks on their face as well.  So sweet!

Newborn Photography

The ideal time to book a newborn session is in your 3rd trimester.  I only book a limited number of photo sessions each month and my schedule fills up quickly. If you are nearing your due date or just had a baby, please still contact me for current session openings. I love newborns and will do my best to fit you in!

I prefer to photograph newborns during their first few week of life after coming home from the hospital, or when your baby is between 10-12 days old. I think waiting a few days after the babies face fills out a bit and they are better able to tolerate not being swaddled is a good option, but every baby is different.

Your newborn session will take place in the comfort of your own home. I will look for the room in your home that has the best indirect natural light and set up my portable studio there. I bring all my newborn hats, baskets, blankets and props to every session! If you desire, I can also take some family and sibling portraits with your newborn. In the spring, summer and early fall, we can go outside and find some shaded areas in your yard for some outdoor portraits as well. Newborn sessions typically last about 1 hour.

Baby Grids

Baby Grids are such a beautiful way to display the cute little bodies are newborns.  It can be a challenge to get each little hand, foot, and face because they usually are moving.  Just take a bunch of shoots and use fast lenses as well as a high ISO!
