Materity Portraits at the Olivenhain Town Hall Encinitas

This is my first time shooting at the Olivenhain Town Hall in Encinitas and it won't be my last! I love the rural look it gives with the old wooden Town Hall in the background.  Perfect setting for these maternity portraits and other kinds of family portraits!  Here is Kimberly with her family!

The Parker Family at the beach!

I love photographing this family! They are so fun to work with!  Who wouldn't love photographing these girls?!  I actually went to elementary school with their mother! Since they recently moved back to Southern California we decided on a beach shoot.  It was of course a foggy day, but I added in a blue sky for a fun effect.

 La Jolla has beautiful beaches to do family portraits and perfect weather!  This was last week of this adorable family!

Allison and Joey's Family on Carlsbad Beach

Adorable photos with an adorable family!  Here is Allison and Joey with their children on a Carlsbad beach. We used the surf board as a prop since Joey likes to surf and the boys are showing interest as well.  Super cute!  It's tricky getting toddlers to want to sit for a photoshoot, so I recommend props as distractions or reinforcers.

I took these photos over the weekend of Cheryl and her family in Rancho Santa Fe. I love the colors in these photos...says summer, but it is kind of always like this in San Diego!  :)

Allison and her family at the Carlsbad Ponto Beach

 It was a chilly day yesterday for Carlsbad, but you can't go wrong with beach family portraits!  I just love that this beach is 10 minutes away from my house.  What a dreamy backdrop.  I think our next family portraits need to be done on the beach too.

My family

Getting ready to photograph family portraits and my little family came along to the park too, so they helped me set up and do some test shots.  My daughter is almost 2 years old and is quite trained with the camera since she is frequently a test subject before I start working. These are some of my favorites. Luckily this blue blanket ended up matching well with their outfits!  Who knew?!

Singing Itsy Bitsy Spider, one of her favorite songs. Singing songs is a great way to engage toddlers during a family portrait, if they like songs and like to sing.  Most toddlers like to at least watch the adults sing if they don't join in themselves.

Alexandria is 3 months old!

I love this one, even though she really isn't asleep...it sure looks like it! We did the Japanese Tea Garden in Castro Valley, a location I have never been too.  It was a great back drop for the family portraits.

Family Photos of Meghan, Scott, and Reece!

Another fun family photo session for their Holiday cards!  This little guy is about 16 months old and he of course doesn't like to sit for photos like most toddlers.  So we had him on the move! I love the action photos...he loved the ducker toy and playing in the sand. Remember to make toddlers look good in photos and keep them happy don't pose them, let them do their thing and they will give you magical photos.  It is only then you can see their true personality come through the photos.
